Dear Fellow Viking Fan,

Viking Spring Football is well underway. I have been out to watch the Vikes practice several times and am impressed with the effort and intensity. This is the best time of the year to “get up close and personal” to watch your Vikes get ready for the 2008 season!

Some items of note this month:

  • The Viking golf tournament is Monday May 5th! As of today we have over 60 golfers participating. EVEN IF YOU CANNOT PLAY GOLF, WE WANT YOU TO COME OUT FOR THE SILENT AUCTION WHICH WILL BEGIN ABOUT 6:00PM AND TO HEAR COACH PEACH TALK ABOUT SPRING BALL AND THE UPCOMING SEASON! Just click on the golf tournament tab above for directions to Diamond Oaks CC or call Marla Thomas at 817-795-1758.
  • The Blue & Gold Spring Game is scheduled to kick off at 2:00pm on Friday May 16th. This is in the middle of the work day for most folks but if you can swing it, take the afternoon off and come out and watch YOUR LAMAR VIKINGS! Coach Peach will have the team scrimmage on Cravens Field (game field) and this will be your last chance to see the Vikes before the next scrimmage three months later on August 16th.
  • On your way in to the Spring Game, stop by the Viking Club table and browse a bit before the scrimmage.  Some of our new “Viking wear” will be on sale and you will definitely want to get your gold “rally towel for next year’s games. We are going to “Go for the Gold” for our home games next year! You can also join the VIKING CLUB and order your copy of THE HISTORY OF LAMAR VIKINGS FOOTBALL.
  • The Viking 7 on 7 Teams get underway with their first tournament on May 17th at Keller High School. If you are interested in how we fare this year in 7 on 7 just go to www.lamarvikings7on7.com
  • Plans for Coach Peach and Coach Ward’s 300th victory celebration are underway. As you may know by now, after a careful recount, Coach Peach determined the Vikings have already won 299 games. This makes the opening game at Cravens vs. Keller Fossil Ridge all the more meaningful. If you have not gone down to the AISD office and ordered your season tickets for next season, now is the time to do so.
  • Pictures from prior seasons are really starting to roll in now for THE HISTORY OF LAMAR VIKINGS FOOTBALL. It is not too late to submit pictures; just go to www.lamarlegends.com for instructions or drop me an email.

Remember, we can sure use your help in any number of ways. Just give me a call or email me and we will get you involved!

GO VIKES!

VFND

Jim
