VIKING FOOTBALL NEWS AND DOINGS “VFND”
Issue # 8
September 2008 Edition
If we had been able to write a script in advance
for last Friday’s epic win over Fossil Ridge I am
not sure it would have been any better than what
really transpired at Cravens Field. It was true
“Viking football” with the good guys putting
together a number of long drives, including the
pivotal last drive of 80 yards to take the lead for
good.
Everyone in attendance could see the emotion in
Coach Peach’s face as the clock ticked down to zero.
After an ice water “bath” he was surrounded by his
players, coaches, wife Debbie and a lot of media.
I have heard from a number of you that your home
recording of the game “cut off” prior to the finish.
I am working on behalf of the Viking Club to buy
DVD’s of the game in bulk from the producer so that
anyone that wants a copy can buy one through the
Viking Club. I will give you the details just as
soon as they are worked out. |

Now that win number 300 is in the Books,
let the celebration begin! On Friday September 12th
which is our next home game we will celebrate Coach Peach and
Lamar High School’s 300th varsity football win. The
Vikes will be facing Tyler John Tyler that night. We last played
TJT in the State Semi-Finals in 2000 so it promises to be a very
exciting game. This summer the Vikes 7 on 7 team shut out TJT in
the State Tournament so rest assured they will be ready to play
us! Here is the schedule of events:
DATE: Friday September 12th 7:30
pm
LOCATION: Lamar High School
PURPOSE: To CELEBRATE Coach Peach’s 300th win and
dedication to LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL for 38+ years
- Pep Rally at 7:15 am celebrating the
300th win. Jim Douglas from Channel 8 will be the
Master of Ceremony. Open to the public.
- On the Field Ceremony for all former
players and coaches with Coach Peach immediately following
the Tyler John Tyler game. Open to the Public.
- Reception in the Lamar Cafeteria with
Coach Peach after the game for ALL ex and current players
and coaches and their immediate families with Coach Peach.
Food/drink and air-conditioning provided!
If you are one of the 2000+ players that
had the privilege of playing for Coach Peach, it is time to make
the trip back to Arlington to honor our ONE AND ONLY HEAD COACH!
The only request Coach Peach made regarding marking the
occasion of the 300th win was that he wanted to spend
it with his former players, coaches and of course fans. So let’s
fulfill that request BIG TIME with a HUGE turnout!!
Please help spread the word to every Viking
Fan and Player that their presence at the 300th Win
Celebration on September 12th is requested!
VFND!
